Sophie Noonan will join The Hunger Project-United Kingdom as Country Director on March 10, 2014. Sophie comes to The Hunger Project with 20 years experience in raising funds, building sustainable teams and directing communications and media relations in support of hunger and poverty relief programmes.

Commenting on her new role, Sophie says “It is a very exciting time to join the Hunger Project. There is a real window of opportunity to end hunger in our lifetime. The international community and world leaders are mobilized against hunger as never before. I look forward to working with The Hunger Project’s UK investors, ambassadors, patrons, supporters and our worldwide community in helping to drive it’s proven and sustainable programs. I am especially interested in engaging with The Hunger Project’s pioneering grassroots, women centered programmes for ending hunger and poverty. Together, we can build a world where every woman, man and child leads a healthy, fulfilling life of self–‐reliance and dignity.”

Sophie Noonan has worked in the charity sector in France, Belgium and the UK, collaborating with Médecins Sans Frontières, Care International, UN Independent Commission for Population and Quality of Life and Action Against Hunger UK (ACF-UK), where she was Director of Fundraising and Communication for the last 15 years.

Recent achievements include growing the fundraising income from £800K to £3M over five years, the 2010 Financial Times Seasonal Appeal and the 2013 Charity Times Award for UK fundraising team of the year.
