Resource Mobilization in Malawi
The Hunger Project works with many NGOs as well as with the local and national governments at the epicenter sites in Malawi.
Majete, the newest epicenter in Malawi, has an NGO partnership with African Parks Majete Wildlife Conservation.
Local government is closest to the people and has the mission of working with people to meet their basic needs. The Hunger Project works in partnership with local government bodies to ensure that they are effective, include the leadership of women, are directly accountable to local people, and provide access to resources and information. Engaged local government entities or ministries in Malawi include agriculture and health:
- The Ministry of Agriculture has provided a farm input subsidy to epicenters for agricultural programs
- The Ministry of Health has provided vaccination and basic health services at health clinics.
All epicenters have other non-partner NGOs present at the community center, renting the epicenter space out for meetings.
