In India, rural women face some of the harshest discrimination in the world. The 73rd amendment that mandates one-third of the seats in local village councils (panchayats) must be filled by women is an historic opportunity. This brochure outlines the conditions of women in India, the opportunity we have to empower them as key change agent and The Hunger Projects work through its Panchayati Raj Campaign.
