On October 10, 2019, Steven J. Sherwood completed his ten-year term as Chair of The Hunger Project (THP)’s Global Board, to be succeeded by long-time board member, Sheree Stomberg.
Steve Sherwood, Chairman of CWS Capital Partners LLC, first invested in THP 1985 and has served as Chair since 2009. He says, “It has been one of the highest honors of my life to serve as the Chairperson of the Global Board of THP. I look forward to working with Sheree in her new role, and I fully trust she has the leadership and vision to lead the organization as we strive for a world with no hunger by 2030.” Sherwood will stay on as a board member.
“I am honored by the faith the board has shown in selecting me as Chair,” Stomberg says. “Steve has been a wonderful partner and friend who has supported my transition into this new role. A world with no hunger is entirely possible if we commit to it and leverage what works – including empowering women and girls to be community leaders. I am looking forward to working with THP around the world to accelerate our programs and partnerships to meet our goals.”
Sheree Stomberg, Global Head of Citi Shared Services, has held several leadership positions on THP Global Board since 2008, including Chair of the Governance, Nominating and Human Resources Committee. She has demonstrated a deep commitment to THP’s mission and vision, and in particular, global female empowerment, both through her work with THP and in her leadership position at Citi.
THP’s Global Board is changing in other ways. Carl-Diedric “Icke” Hamilton of Sweden will be retiring from his role on the Global Board in October. Charles Deull, Executive Vice President, Clark Transfer, Inc., was elected Chair of the Audit Committee. Neera Nundy, co-founder of Dasra in India, was elected Chair of the Governance, Nominating and Human Resources Committee
