Magret’s Graduation – It’s Never Too Late to Take Charge of Your Life

Because her parents were so poor, Magret didn’t learn how to read and write when she was young. This troubled her. She would stay up at night, thinking: “Will I ever be able to write my name? Will I ever be able to read?”

So when she found out about The Hunger Project’s Adult Literacy Program, she signed up right away. She didn’t care about her age – her mindset was one of empowerment and determination. She would learn how to read and write, no matter what!

Magret is one of over 11,000 students in Malawi learning to read, write and become authors of their own lives through our Adult Literacy Program.
