Located in Southern Africa, Mozambique is a country with a population of 23 million. With an illiteracy rate of 56% and 82% of the population living under USD $2 a day poverty remains widespread in the country. The Hunger Project has been working in Mozambique since 2006 and is empowering partners in three epicenter communities.
THP-Mozambique's Chokwe Epicenter suffered a loss of crops due to flooding in the region. However, within a few months, the Food Security Porgram had a fruitful harvest. Also, under the Food Security Program, new income generating activities were undertaken by women at several epicenters.
