Gudatu Saving and Credit Cooperative (SACCO), or rural bank, of The Hunger Project's Jaldu Epicenter in Ethiopia has been awarded two cups and certificates for its outstanding work in mobilizing the highest number of women members and the highest saving amounts among other SACCOs at the regional and federal levels.
Two investor-underwritten epicenters, Enemore and Wurib, were inaugurated at ceremonies attended by Hunger Project leadership. Five of the six epicenters in Ethiopia are maintaining nursery school classes, with a ratio of 1.2 girls enrolled for every boy, and a new health center opened to serve rural community members.
Bortene School is located in one of the villages of Enemore Epicenter. THP-Ethiopia, in partnership with the community, made major school renovations last year attracting a large community of students, parents, and teachers.
