Ending Hunger: Come Celebrate the Results - So Far. . .

Please make plans now to attend The Hunger Project’s gala 30th anniversary celebration at the New York Hilton Hotel on Saturday night, 13 October 2007.
As Joan Holmes, president of The Hunger Project, said in an announcement call for the event, “It is an acknowledgment of what’s being accomplished and how we’re positioned to accomplish even more for the future.”
On that night, more than 1,000 people from 30 countries will come together to celebrate our groundbreaking results so far.
We will also celebrate our expanding worldwide cadre of more than 150,000 leaders trained and committed to produce even greater results in the future.
Do not miss this special opportunity to have our 30th anniversary be everything it can and must be!

Millions of women and men — in more than 22,000 villages across 13 countries in three regions of the world — are achieving self-reliance.
The Hunger Project now has a worldwide, expanding cadre of leaders trained and committed to produce even greater results in the future:
- 100,000 animators are reaching 10 million people in Bangladesh.
- 65,000 trained elected women panchayat leaders are reaching 18 million people in India.
- three million people are mobilized in 1,100 villages in Africa.
- 10,000 trained village leaders are reaching two million people in three countries in Latin America.
- 6,000+ investors from 15 countries are standing in full partnership with these leaders.
During the gala dinner program, we will get to hear from representatives of this cadre of leadership:
- an African woman food farmer who has created a women-owned, women-run rural bank — a first in Africa.
- a “barefoot researcher” from Bangladesh who investigates poverty in the researcher’s village, assesses situations and creates solutions for people to have better lives.
- a trained panchayat woman leader from India, who mobilizes her community to meet basic needs and now leads a statewide federation of women leaders.
- a people’s reporter from Bolivia who empowers indigenous people’s participation as full citizens of their country.

The Difference It Will Make for You to Be There!
Expanding our investor movement has never been more important than it is today. As we scale up — and as we begin to make inroads into institutional funding from governments and foundations — our ability to stay true to our principles depends more than ever on our committed individual investors.
Committed investors are the heart and soul of The Hunger Project. Investors are the living embodiment of the profound respect, solidarity and authentic partnership with hungry people that are central to our principles and therefore to our effectiveness.
Our investors are profoundly committed to our staying true to our principles. And we are profoundly committed to our investors.
This event will be an extraordinary opportunity to reaffirm who we are as investors — and to expand our investor movement consistent with what we need to achieve next for the end of hunger.
