The Hunger Project has been active in India since 1984 and currently works across 10 states. The Hunger Project mobilizes people for self-reliant action, empowering women as key change agents and elected leaders to engage with local government. Grassroots leaders work to overcome challenges such as poverty, gender inequality and access to self-governance.

The Hunger Project-India and local state partners recently held a series of interfaces with Parliamentarians and empowered elected women representatives to discuss pressing social issues such as the availability of drinking water, school efficiency, reproductive rights and village health centers.
