Hunger Project Statement Regarding Clinton Foundation

The following statement was prepared to address questions regarding The Hunger Project's involvement with the Clinton Foundation.

The Hunger Project's only financial involvement with the Clinton Foundation has been to pay dues to participate in the annual Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Conference.

President Bill Clinton recently disclosed the names of all (approximately 205,000) individuals and organizations who have contributed to the Clinton Foundation. The Hunger Project is listed among Clinton Foundation "donors," due solely to fees paid to participate in the CGI being counted as "contributions."

In 2005, 2007 and 2008, The Hunger Project participated in the CGI. This gathering of world leaders and organizations from a variety of backgrounds offers a unique opportunity for non-profit, non-governmental organizations to fundraise, network, build alliances and develop name recognition, all of which assists in furthering support for the not-for-profit sector.

The Hunger Project's participation in the CGI has yielded new investments totaling several hundred thousand dollars, and has also introduced The Hunger Project to an entirely new and broader network of individual and corporate investors.

The Hunger Project's participation in the CGI in no way reflects any organizational preference, endorsement or support for any political leaders or political parties.
