Human Chain Protests Violence Against Girls in Bangladesh

In December 2012, a Bangladeshi school girl was brutally abused by a group of men who, despite being identified, went unpunished for nearly a month. In protest of the crime and gross negligence by authorities, The Hunger Project-Bangladesh and the National Girl Child Advocacy forum brought more than 400 people together in a human chain in front of the National Press Club.

Two New Rural Banks Recognized in Malawi

Champiti Epicenter Rural Bank Recognition

The goal of the Microfinance Program in each epicenter is to have the facility gain government recognition as a licensed Rural Bank, owned entirely by community members and managed by a majority female board. The Rural Bank then provides the entire epicenter community with sustainable access to savings and credit facilities. THP-Malawi is therefore happy to announce the recognition of two new Rural Banks in Champiti and Ligowe Epicenters.
