World Hunger Day 2011 Launched with Dionne Warwick!
On Thursday, September 2, international singing sensation Dionne Warwick flew into London to join The Hunger Project in launching World Hunger Day - Empowering People. Ending Hunger.
World Hunger Day, which will take place on January 9, 2011, will celebrate and support the individuals and communities in developing and developed countries that are working to end hunger and poverty worldwide.
On January 9, The Hunger Project-United Kingdom will hold a daytime conference bringing together a panel of experts, including Hunger Project leaders. The main event will take place in the evening at London's Apollo Victoria Theater, with a gala concert by international singing star Dionne Warwick and Friends (international all-star line up)!
Dionne will perform in order to raise funds and draw awareness of The Hunger Project and World Hunger Day. She is proud to be working in close partnership with The Hunger Project on this event and stands shoulder to shoulder with us all to bring about an end to global hunger and poverty.
Additionally, we hope that World Hunger Day will encourage even more organizations to work in partnership with each other and with the women, men and children in the developing world who seek to bring about a sustainable end to their own hunger.
