One Wish Award

The Hunger Project has received the 2013 One Wish Award, the annual prize inaugurated by Innovation Pioneers recognizing the use of innovation in achieving outstanding results at Innovation Pioneers’ Innovation in Action symposium in Stockholm.

We were recognized for our  “exceptional ideas and outstanding actions” in implementing empowering, people-centered solutions.

“Receiving the One Wish Award is really a valuable recognition for us,” said Carl-Diedric Hamilton, chairman of Hunger Project Sweden and member of The Hunger Project’s global board. “It creates an opportunity to collaborate with people and organizations with vast experience and drive, working together to end hunger and poverty.”

The Hunger Project was recognized as a leader in the use of bottom-up methodology. At work in Africa, South Asia and Latin America, we work to end hunger and poverty by empowering people to lead lives of self-reliance, meet their own basic needs and build better futures for their children.

In this year’s award, the Innovation Pioneers network singled out our model in addressing world hunger, and our focus on collaboration, knowledge sharing and innovation.

Recipients of the Award are granted one wish from the Innovation Pioneers network, provided through support from its members. The winner gains direct access to leading innovation and development experience within the member companies.

“We are passionate supporters of capitalizing on inclusive innovation for social challenges,” said Dariush Ghatan of Googol, an Innovation Pioneers initiator member company. “The Hunger Project puts innovation into practice, and we see this award as both recognition of their outstanding work around the globe and a tremendous opportunity to harness the power of innovation in addressing an important social issue.”

The award was presented to Hamilton and Magdalena Jennstål, also of The Hunger Project, by Chairperson of the Innovation Pioneers One Wish Award Committee Eva-Carin Banka Johnson of IKEA and Googol’s Ghatan. IKEA is one of Innovation Pioneers initiating companies.
