In November 2009, 32 Youth Ending Hunger (YEH) volunteers participated in a five-day "Active Citizens Training" held by the British Council in collaboration with The Hunger Project (THP)-Bangladesh.

This is the first step in a newly cemented partnership between THP-Bangladesh and the British Council, an organization dedicated to promoting intercultural exchange and relations.

Both organizations are collaborating to deliver youth leadership training to the volunteers. The goal is to empower young Bangladeshis to develop and implement their own social action projects locally.

YEH volunteers from all over Bangladesh gathered at Manikganj, outside of Dhaka, to take part in the training program. Organizers hope the trainings will help youth develop an awareness of what it means to be an active citizen, both locally and globally.

The training also involved capacity building for project planning, enabling YEH trainers to support young Bangladeshis in the development of their own community initiatives. Exposure to this training will help THP-Bangladesh to energize and enrich its existing youth training modules.
