Chirapaq's April 2011 Update to the Global Board

The following are highlights from July-December 2010 from Chirapaq, The Hunger Project's partner organization in Peru:

1. Achieved national and international recognition for the impact of the indigenous agenda in contributing to the creation of public policies to eliminate hunger and poverty and in exercising the full rights of indigenous organizations and leaders.

2. Success of the Indigenous Women's Program with actions that promote the integral development of the Andean and Amazonian indigenous women.

3. 1,473 members of indigenous organizations (146 men and 1,327 women) were able to actively participate and influence decision makers in local government under the strategic alliance between Chirapaq and The Hunger Project.
