The Hunger Project started working in Uganda in 1999 with initial operations in Kiringente and Kalamba sub-counties in Mpigi District with a focus on 11 villages, which had a total population of 10,000 people. As of 2012, The Hunger Project-Uganda has successfully established 11 epicenters in central, western and mid-eastern regions in the districts of Mpigi, Wakiso, Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, Mbarara, Kiruhura, Iganga and Mbale. Close to 40,000 partners have directly benefited from The Hunger Project-Uganda program interventions under the current catchments to end their own hunger and poverty.
