On March 23, 2013, students from Novi High School in Michigan hosted the their 3rd Annual International Talent Show which raised awareness and funds for The Hunger Project. The event was organized by International Baccalaureate (IB) students and the show featured 15 performances representing various cultures from around the world. Performances ranged from traditional Indian dance to South Korean drumming and the night concluded with a student-organized International Food Court featuring cuisines from Brazil, Japan, India and more!

For the past two years, IB students at Novi High School have raised funds for Doctors without Borders so The Hunger Project was honored to be selected as this year's charity.

The emcees of the event spoke about The Hunger Project’s mission and prepared an informational poster that was displayed throughout the event. Overall, the students at Novi High School raised a total of $1,500 for The Hunger Project!

An enormous thank you from The Hunger Project to the students of Novi High School for their hard work and their partnership in lifting communities around the world out of poverty!

In a recent article, Tilman Ehrbeck, CEO of CGAP, reminds us why financial access is so important: "Imagine life without access to formal financial services: without a deposit account, a college savings plan, or home mortgage, most of us would be unable to realize simple dreams and aspirations for our families, and simple planning would become a complex affair." THP Senior Microfinance Program Officer explores why these life-improving financial tools are out of reach for over two-thirds of the adult population in the world.
