Join The Hunger Project Delegation to the 12th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates
Announcing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for motivated, socially conscious, global citizens between the ages of 18 and 26!
Each year since 1999, Nobel Laureates have gathered to share their powerful stories and invaluable insights directly with students and motivated young people. The first World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates was held at the suggestion of the Gorbachev Foundation, and the summit has grown over the years, gaining in credibility and importance as it promotes international initiatives and campaigns to foster peace.
Each summit’s location is chosen for its unique relationship to the theme of that year. This year’s theme is “Speak Up, Speak Out for Freedom and Rights,” and will be hosted in Chicago, Illinois – making it the very first summit hosted in the United States.
The three day event will take place at the University of Illinois at Chicago April 23-25, 2012 and provide a rare opportunity for audience members to engage with the world’s most notable figures in a discussion on global peace and human rights.
Among the 12 Nobel Peace Laureates attending the summit will be:
- President Mikhail Gorbachev - Russia
- His Holiness the Dalai Lama - Tibet
- President Jimmy Carter - USA
- Dr. Shirin Ebadi - Iran
The Hunger Project’s own President and CEO, Mary Ellen McNish, will be in attendance at this year’s Summit as a representative for the Secretariat and has graciously acquired three (3) tickets for a select Hunger Project Delegation to the Summit and we want YOU to be a part of it! Selected applicants will join an official Secretariat delegation of 60 students and young people from universities and organizations around the United States.
