2011: A Year in Review


It’s been quite a year for us at The Hunger Project and for the development community as a whole. Agriculture, gender equality and sustainability, all fundamental elements of THP programs, are taking center stage and we couldn’t be more excited for the coming year. But first, a look back at 2011.

On May 14, 2011,The Hunger Project-Burkina Faso partnered with local health groups to organize a two-day educational campaign for HIV/AIDS, followed by free testing and free medical consultations. Watch local news coverage of the event.

Human Rights Day 2011


December 10, 2011 is Human Right Day. On this day we join together to recognize that, "human rights belong equally to each of us and bind us together as a global community with the same ideals and values."

Microcredit: Meeting its Goals?

The recently released Microcredit Summit Campaign Report 2012 indicates development efforts will be unable to ensure that 100 million families rise above the US$1.25 a day threshold by 2015. Their main reasons for this "humbling realization": the challenge of measuring poverty and the profound transformation that is required for someone to graduate out of poverty.
